NO.1 ROWENA G老师
I am an experienced teacher with many years of teaching both english as a foreign language and in the further education sector. I have a background in equine science and used to be a lecturer at university level. Now with 3 primary school-aged boys, I assist at the school in their classes.
We really enjoy meeting new students and having them stay as part of the family. Every student is different and their course is carefully planned to help them benefit as much as possible from their stay.
I live with my husband Ben, who is an economist, and our three children: Joshua (2005) who likes computer games, chess, coin collecting and Doctor Who; Phillip (2007) who likes racing cars, football and anything active; and Henry (2009) who is our designer and likes art and dolls. We have two friendly dogs: a old basset hound called Snuffy and a younger springer called Beano, along with six chickens and a cockeral.
As a family we are active and enjoy cycling, roller-blading and walking in the surrounding area with our dogs. I love horses and am actively involved with our local branch of the Pony Club. We also have a home-made punt which we use on the river at the bottom of our garden. I also enjoy baking, especially cakes, and arts and crafts.
ABOUT THE TEACHER’S ACCOMMODATION
Our house is a large 5 bedroom converted windmill which dates back to the 1820’s. There is a large garden with an outdoor swimming pool, vegetable plot, games room, orchard (from where we make our own apple juice in the autumn) and other outbuildings. Students will stay in their own private room with ensuite toilet and shower. We also have access to a neighbours’ tennis courts a short walk away.
About the local area
We live in the picturesque village of Barrington, just 7 miles from Cambridge, which has one of the largest village greens in the UK. It is a small and friendly village with about 1,000 inhabitants. Some of the houses – including the pub, date back to the 13th century. There is also a small shop, post office, primary school and church.
I am a qualified teacher of English as a foreign language. I like to create a lively and interesting learning environment for students which enables them to make good progress with their language skills. Before I became a home stay teacher, I taught in secondary schools. I speak French.
I live with my husband, Matthew. He used to be in the military. He enjoys mountain biking, running and cooking. We have three children: two girls (dates of birth: 1999 and 2007) and a boy (date of birth: 2003). They attend school locally. As a family, we enjoy outdoor activities and going to the cinema. We have two dogs named Jack and Gem. I am quite sporty and I enjoy running, swimming, cycling and walking. I like music and I am a keen piano player. I get pleasure in preparing nice meals for the family and students. I have a keen interest in languages and I like to continue my studies in French.
